Activities
In order to raise funds for
the various charities we support, the staff, volunteers and
supporters of The Children’s Feeding Trust do
the following:
1) A group of volunteers in Amsterdam
Hoek:
-
Has for the past 40 odd years produced
greeting cards which are for sale.
-
Over 600, 730 of such cards have been
produced by this group, currently headed up by Mona
Paterson.
-
Christmas cards are
recycled and reproduced by this same group.
-
These cards are for sale at various
pharmacy outlets, schools as well as The Children’s
Feeding Trust office and bookshop, Books Etc. Sales
of such Christmas cards raise over R10 000 per year.
2) Collection tins for The Children’s
Feeding Trust:
3) The bookshop, Books Etc, situated
at the Walmer Town Hall in Port Elizabeth:
-
Is open 6 days a week and sells donated
books.
-
This shop is run solely by volunteers.
-
The bookshop also has a website on which
‘rare’ books are sold.
-
Bi-annually this Books Etc holds a Big
Book Sale at The Walmer Town Hall where books can be bought
for R10 per kilogram. In 2008 these sales raised R14, 054.
4) The annual
Jumble sale takes place through:
The donation of goods such
as:
-
Clothing,
-
Crockery &
-
Household goods.
5) Bridge Players
-
Each November a group of bridge players,
who meet monthly, hold a big play off.
-
This raises funds for the trust which
totaled R in 2008.
6) An Annual Appeal is posted to
individuals and businesses.
7) Each year a
street collection is held with the help of volunteers.
8) Sugar is
sponsored by Huletts each month.
9) Help from the public:
-
Without volunteers the majority of these
fundraising efforts could not take place.
-
Volunteers are our most valued resource.
